Susan Smith BlakelySusan is the Founder of LegalPerspectives LLC, and a nationally recognized author, speaker, and consultant on issues related to the special challenges for women lawyers and the low retention rates in the profession. An attorney with a long career in private practice, Susan is author of the Best Friends at the Bar, a series of books that address the work-life struggle for women lawyers. Her newest book, Best Friends at the Bar: Top-Down Leadership for Women Lawyers, focuses on the responsibilities of law firm leaders to help women lawyers meet the challenges of law practice, and for retaining the considerable talent that women lawyers bring to firms and to the profession. She was awarded the 2016 Lawyers Monthly Women in Law Award and the MS. JD Sharing Her Passion Award.

Susan brings a wealth of experience to the Trust, having worked as an attorney in private practice specializing in litigation and land use law, and as chief of staff for a member of the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. Susan graduated from the University of Wisconsin with distinction, and from Georgetown University Law Center where she was a teaching fellow. She is a member of the CoachSource global network of leadership coaches and a career coach for the Indiana University Marshall Goldsmith Leadership Development and Executive Coaching Academy.
