Explore + Restore
"In the end, we will conserve only what we love, we will love only what we understand, and we will understand only what we are taught." Baba Dioum
Explore + Restore is a series of local outdoor educational and volunteer opportunities organized and/or co-sponsored by NVCT. These events are designed for people who want to learn more about ecology and help with environmental restoration in Northern Virginia, and are great opportunities for kids to get involved with saving nearby nature!
"Explore" nearby nature on one of our hikes! Every exploration is led by NVCT staff and an experienced naturalist. Specialty topics in the past have included solstice spectaculars, the science of fall foliage, local geology, winter tree ID, edible wild plants, birding, and spring wildflowers! Keep an eye on the calendar for upcoming opportunities!
"Restore" nearby nature by volunteering with NVCT--you can help us remove non-native invasive plants, clean up local streams and waterways, and plant trees. All of these activities help native plants and animals survive, thus preserving local biodiversity.
