Whether it is our land protection, outdoor programs or community reinvestment, NVCT is always working hard to make Northern Virginia better everyday.
The Northern Virginia Conservation Trust, founded in 1994, has preserved 5,370 acres in Northern Virginia. As a land trust, NVCT works directly with landowners to find the best voluntary conservation option for their properties. The Trust also collaborates with Fairfax County, Arlington County, and the City of Alexandria in attracting more voluntary land conservation. NVCT currently holds 93 conservation easements and owns 22 properties, including 70 acres protecting one of the largest Great Blue Heron nesting-sites in the lower Potomac region.

NVCT’s Explore & Restore program have contributed more than 3800 volunteer hours, including the planting of 1600+ native trees and the removal of dozens of invasive species infestations from parks and conserved lands. NVCT’s E&R events not only help maintain the natural beauty of these landscapes, but offer citizens an opportunity to go kayaking, birding or hiking with knowledgeable experts, and gain a greater understanding and appreciation for our natural environment.
