Love taking nature photos? Then we have the contest for you. Our sixth annual Nearby Nature Photo Contest is now open and amateur photographers of all ages are welcome to enter.
We are accepting entries in for 2019 in the following categories: Awesome Animals - Photos of the awesome animals you see out and about in nature. Beautiful Bugs - From honeybees to orb weavers show us the beauty in the bugs around us. Fantastic Flowers - Our area is home to beautiful local flora just waiting for a close-up. Tremendous Trees - Native and non-native trees alike work hard and bring beauty.
Each entrant may submit up to four photos (entered separately). However, photographers may only have one win per year. The photos can be from any time of the year and can be previously shot or taken specifically for the contest. Also, please note that all submissions should be taken inside of our service area: Arlington, Caroline, Fairfax, Fauquier, King George, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania, and Stafford counties or independent cities inclding Alexandria, City of Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, Manassas, and Manassas Park.
Have a nature photographer in the making on your hands? We also offer youth divisions!Our youth division has the same entry categories but will be judged only among other youth entries. Depending on number of entries in the youth division some categories may be combined for one winner.
Entrants retain all rights to photographs submitted but agree to grant NVCT the right to publish the images (with or without names). Some photos not selected as winners may still be used to help promote our conservation work online or in print materials.
Prizes will be announced at a later date but all first place winners will receive professionally printed and framed versions of their winning photos.
